PRESIDENTS FAVORITES
A Special Dinner with the Chef Meal
February 22, 2017
Reception to begin at 6:30 pm
Our five course meal includes menu items from several Presidents including some of the wine choices. Suggested by Susan Reid several years ago, I decided to go with the Presidents theme because of the election and her persistence. Although I could have easily had an all seafood menu, most of the Presidents who favored seafood all hailed from the East coast and New England area. I didn't want to favor one president over another however the Kennedy's certainly liked food and entertaining and President Johnson had many favorites that are considered normal table fare here in Texas. Ladybird and Jaqueline were both excellent cooks and many of their recipes are favorites in the Whitehouse. The same could also be said of Martha Washington whose Crab Chowder recipe is said to be a favorite of all White house families. I left this off our menu since it is so well known and instead focused on some unique and traditional dishes that I put my own spin on.
"A glass of wine and a bit of mutton are always welcome."
